Also can you manage the phones contacts directly via the PC ? tried syncing with outlook but it really does a poor job and limits you to just name and number information, no picture management etc..Thanks and good work on the site.”

not sure about accessing sms via pc. there is a program called best messagestorer that allows you to save your sms and emails to a text file that can be viewed on your pc. i sync my device with an exchange server and i find it does a good job. i have not even tried to sync using my pc

You can update pictures to the P1i if you add them via MS Outlook 2003 or 2007.

While the sony PC Suite is pure crap (atleast it does backup messages though, something I couldn’t do on a nokia), Oxygen phone manager should do what he wants. I haven’t tried it out recently, but from memory, it used to do the trick.

The latest version is UIQ3 compatible.

For the SMSs, try downloading Best MessageStorer. It can convert your messages into text files. You can download it for a point redeemable included with the handset at SE’s website. Hope this helps

Hi,
FMA (Floats Mobile Agent) is opensource and allows you to access the sms’s and contacts from your pc. It’s still being developed, but the latest version connects fine to my p1i.
Hope this helps.
